Rally Charlemagne
Great Result - 8th Overall !
John and Tony secured 8th Overall on this challenging event. Split over 2 days with 2 stages repeated three times each day, with two of the Saturday stages held in the dark, the rally proved to be a real test.
Returning to France to tackle this event for the first time John and Tony had a trouble free run to an excellent finish, swopping times with the powerful and nimble modern R5 machinery they were competing against.
A steady start saw the duo 12th Overall after the first loop of 2 stages and thereafter set about a top 10 finish against some quick and committed local and international competitors. Benefiting from a couple of retirements from the top 10 runners John & Tony established themselves 8th overall by Stage 7 (of the 12) and gradually pulled away from those behind, to finish in a very credible overall position.
The car ran faultlessly all weekend so thanks go to Dean George of GEO Prep, Andy (Flymo) Freeman and Rhys, Tony's youngest son who was with us for the weekend.
